At Cooks' Co-op, we recognise that every household has different capacities and needs. Our membership structure reflects this reality while ensuring everyone contributes to our collective abundance.
Working MembersMarkup rate: 15% above cost price Labour commitment: at least 3 hours of work contribution a month. Some people do much more, some do a little less and make up for it in a future month. We’re pretty flexible about this and trust you to look after the community. Contribution areas: Weighing and packing, picking up produce from suppliers, event coordination, member onboarding, inventory management, cleaning, special orders, communications, or proposing entirely new roles. We work with you to find a contribution that suits you and the Co-op. Other time commitments: Groceries are packed up for you on weekly basis, all you need to do is order them and then pick them up from Moorooka on a Thursday. Then once a month on a Saturday at our Meetups, you can access a lot more of our bulk goods. This can involve a bit more time hanging out if you like. But still, the time you spend is up to you. You can still just do a drive by for our Monthly Meetups. We do expect all of our Working Members to respond to communications, and be a least minimally active in Slack, our main communication platform. Perfect for: Those who can contribute time regularly and want deeper involvement in our community.

Perfect for: Households with less predictable schedules and/or more young kids that are attached to your hip, or just too much going on already. We feel you.

Financial Requirements for all Members
We believe in economic diversity and don't want financial barriers to prevent participation. If the default pricing structure would prevent your household from joining, please talk with us about adjustments. Similarly, if you face barriers to working member participation but want to contribute in other ways, we're open to creative solutions.
Our goal is a membership that reflects the diverse community we aim to serve, not just those with abundant time or financial resources.
